This class has two sessions. The first session will be held on 9/4/2024 from 5:00 to 7:30 pm. The second session will be held on 9/14/2024 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Maine law requires completing a Firearms Hunter Safety course to obtain your hunting license. This course consists of 8 hours of classroom instruction on the following topics:
- Survival/first aid
- Landowner relations
- Hunter ethics
- Maine hunting laws
- Hands-on practice of safe firearms handling
- Hands-on instruction of map and compass and outdoor survival
At the skills and exam session students must demonstrate to the instructor that they can safely handle a firearm, and must participate in workshop and session activities, bring a survival kit and pass a 50 question exam with a score of at least 70%.
Both sessions must be attended and a workbook must be completed during the time between the first and second class dates.
There is no set fee for this course, however, donations are always welcomed and appreciated.
